How Can I Make a Diffrence?
Do you have about 5 hours of time each year to give to your child’s school? If so, the Explore Knowledge Foundation might be the perfect committee to join. The Foundation is a 501c3 tax exempt entity that focuses on supporting the school through fundraising and facilities support. Did you know that the Foundation owns the physical school buildings and property? They do! The Foundation is in need of some new members and hopes that you will join us. We meet roughly once each quarter (4 times a year) virtually for about an hour on a Tuesday at 5:30 pm. Meet our Board Members
Gary Hay
President
Gary has been in Las Vegas for 16 years. After a successful 20+ year career in Medical Publishing he decided to make a career change to the Financial Services Industry. He started his career with Wells Fargo Advisors in early 2011 and moved to The Wealth Consulting Group in early 2013 as part of the Physicians Division working with doctors and other professionals within the local medical community and across the country. Gary has been married to his wife, Michelle, for 31 years. They have three children with one still at home and enrolled at Explore Knowledge Academy. Gary graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing. He is pursuing a Master of Finance Degree and currently serves as President of Business Networking International Henderson Chapter. Gary enjoys the beach, bo ating, golf, reading and spending time with his family.
Elisia Danley
Member
Elisia is a Las Vegas native and alumna of Explore Knowledge Academy. She has graduated from Nevada State University with her Bachelor’s in Psychology and Minor in Addictions Counseling. She also has a Master’s in Social Work with a focus in Mental Health, Addiction, and Family from Tulane University. Elisia has experience in mental health, case management, and social services. In her current role, she assists individuals with applying for grants towards education that leads to a fulfilling career. Elisia attributes many of her skills and tools she has learned to EKA and is eager to servicing the EKA community through the Foundation.
Elizabeth Serna
Trustee
Elizabeth has over 18 years experience working in the medical and mental health fields. As a Las Vegas native, she attended the Community College of Southern Nevada and Nevada State College where she graduated with a Bachelors in Psychology and Minor in Addictions Counseling. Later, she received a Masters of Social Work with an emphasis in Mental Health and sub-concentration in Military Social Work from the University of Southern California. Elizabeth has worked with diverse populations of all ages, but she especially enjoys working with children and adolescents. In the past, she served on an SOT Board for a local CCSD high school. She has volunteered at several CCSD schools throughout the years. She was a remote instructor for Columbia University- an Ivy League University based in NYC. Elizabeth is the proud parent of two children who have attended EKA. Elizabeth looks forward to serving in the EKA Foundation.
Osiris Ortega-Negrete
Member
Meet Osiris Ortega-Negrete, she is the mother of two students in Explore Knowledge Academy of Public Speaking school, a wife, and an elementary school teacher. She has a bachelor’s in Hotel Administration from UNLV. Once she became a mother, she decided to change careers to be able to spend more time with her children. She has a masters in education from National University. She’s been teaching for over 10 years. She enjoys spending time with her family and loves going on vacations to create memories with them. She looks forward to helping the EKA Foundation generate funds for this wonderful school.
